FireCut

Firecut streamlines the video editing process for Adobe Premiere Pro users

Overview

FireCut is a premium Adobe Premiere Pro plugin that enables faster video editing through removing time consuming editing tasks like silence removal, repetition and adding subtitles.

It is particularly useful for content creators who need to optimize large volumes of footage quickly, such as podcasters and vloggers.

The tool’s ability to perform functions like silence trimming, remove repetition and chapter generation enhances editing efficiency and accuracy. As a result, users can reduce editing time while maintaining high-quality outputs, making it a valuable workflow plugin in fast-paced production environments.

Key features

  • Silence and Repetition Cutting: Automatically identifies and removes silent sections and repetitions from video footage, saving editors significant time.
  • Automated Camera Switching: Streamlines the process of switching between multiple camera angles based on audio cues or action, enhancing viewer engagement.
  • Zoom Cuts: Provides a way to effectively highlight key moments by zooming in on subjects during edits to add emphasis.
  • Automated Chapter Generation: Facilitates the creation of chapters or segments within videos, making content navigation user-friendly.
  • AI Generated Captions: Enables fast AI generation of captions and animations within Adobe Premiere.

Pros

  • Time Efficiency: FireCut can significantly reduce editing time, allowing users to devote more resources to content creation rather than technical details.
  • AI Captioning: The transcription is very accurate, while the animation and colouring is a very easy to use interface. It’s one of the better AI captioning tools available.
  • Seamless Integration: As an Adobe Premiere Pro plugin, it integrates into existing video editing workflows, which saves time. It also now has a web version for non Premiere Pro users.

Cons

  • Silence and Repetition Cutting Isn’t Perfect: If you have a presented video and this contains silences and fluffs, then Firecut can get rid of these quickly, but they’ll almost certainly need adjustment, and sometimes the tool does too much cutting
  • AI B-Roll Selector: Testing vs using a stock library, the b-roll selector didn’t offer much. It placed a lot of generic clips from Storyblocks onto the timeline, and sometimes they were irrelevant – thus creating work.
  • Cost: While you can get monthly costs down to $24+tax by selecting the annual option, few will want this commitment upfront. The monthly rate is really quite expensive at $34+tax – close to $40 a month, which is unusual for AI tools.
  • Few Benefits for the Casual UsersGiven the high price, you’d really need to be using Firecut a few times a week to get value for money. Some of its features also require practise, so it really suits professional editors over casual creators.

Who is FireCut for?

Firecut is best for serious professional Video Editors, particularly those who have a lot of interviews, like podcasts, in their workflow. It is probably the best AI tool available for large quantity AI captioning. It could also be used by Content Creators if they are aiming to publish more than 3x videos a week.
